Buying a home in Boise, Idaho

Buy a home in Boise

When one looks at a list of the fastest growing cities in America, two of Idaho’s cities, Boise and Meridian, will likely be on that list. However, it isn’t just these two cities that are growing at a remarkable pace, comparatively, in the state, as many people are moving from all over the country to make Idaho their home. Why is this? What is so special about Idaho? Why should anyone move here? The answers to these questions are many and, rest assured, there are many good reasons to make the Gem State home. These questions have been answered by many already, with certain Idaho cities even experiencing a shortage of housing, not quite being able as of yet to keep up with the number of people who are seeking to call Idaho home.

Many of you reading this will may even fit into this category; you likely heard of Idaho from friends, or from family, and were attracted by the relatively inexpensive cost of living, cost of buying, and the overall quality of living that Idaho boasts. Others of you have been privileged to call Idaho your home for some time, and are simply looking to continue laying down roots in our great State. No matter who you are, where you are coming from, or why you are looking to buy a home in Idaho, there are a few things to consider when looking to buy a home in the Great State of Idaho.

Size – How Many People Live in Idaho?

As mentioned, cities like Meridian and Boise are growing incredibly fast, and as such Boise and Meridian, respectively, are the two biggest cities in the state. Boise sports a population a little over 220,000, and Meridian a little over 95,000. Outside these cities, the next biggest cities in Idaho are Nampa and Idaho Falls, with Nampa at a population close to Meridian’s, but Idaho Falls only has about 40,000 fewer people. This population, or lack of it, continues to drop as you go down the line. So, if you are the kind of person that wants to be in the middle of the action, a home in the Treasure Valley (the Boise, Meridian and Nampa area) will likely be what you’re looking for. If you don’t mind living in a smaller community though, there are a plethora of wonderful options available to you here in the Treasure Valley as well thanks to the many communities that line its outskirts.

Location – Where Should I Move to in Idaho?

Location is also important. If you are going to look in the Treasure Valley, understanding the interconnectivity of the Valley can be particularly important. For example, many people are able to make a comfortable commute from the still relatively small community of Kuna to the capital city of Boise, and vice versa.

Price – How Much Does a Home in Idaho Cost?

Of course, price is also important to note. There are communities across the state where one could live very well, in a wonderful home, for a comparatively cheap price even if you look at housing costs in surrounding Northwest communities. Currently, the housing market in the Treasure Valley is quite robust, which is also true of a few other areas within the state, and so for many areas, this means great asking prices in the most desirable areas. No matter where you look, there are sure to be homes within the state that are sure to meet your overall needs, including pricing.
