Every golfer has their favorite course but there are some courses that rank higher than the others. Here are some brief descriptions of the top courses in the Treasure Valley.
Banbury Golf Course in Eagle
The Banbury Golf Course was designed by John Harbottle III. His vision has brought to life a beautiful yet challenging 6,890 yard par 71 public course. Incorporating the natural beauty of the Boise River, Mr. Harbottle has created a course which bends and flows along with the river. Banbury’s average rates with provide you with 9 to 18 holes. This golf course, for a nominal fee provides instruction for youth and adults. Their restaurant offers a variety of reasonably priced entrees and cater special events including weddings.
TimberStone Golf course in Caldwell
The course has an interesting history. The once was the farm owned by Bruce Barlett. He grew beans, beets and wheat on the farm. At some point, Bruce gave up farming and hired John Stiedel to design a golf course for him. Before it was finished, though, the property changed hand several times over the years and soon the course was abandoned and fell into disrepair. In 2010 the course changed hands once again. It has been restored, and completed and turned into the beautiful greenway it is today.
Falcon Crest Golf Club in Kuna
This award winning golf course is a 36 hole complex with an amazing view of the beautiful surrounding area. With three seperate courses, this golf club has a lot to offer any golfer no matter their skill level. Each year on May 12th Falcon Crest holds the John Borbonus Memorial Golf Tournament. This event is in memory of John, the only son of the owner of Falcon Crest, Hans Borbonus. John was killed while serving a tour of duty in Iraq. Because of John’s quick thinking and bravery, he saved the lives of all those at his Patrol base by preventing a dump truck full of explosives from entering the base.
Indian Lakes Golf Club in Boise
This quaint golf course in southeast Boise is an affordable place for a novice golfer to improve his/her game. It is also challenging enough for a more experienced golfer as well. Tree lined paths meander around this lovely course. Some of the amenities of this course include a pro shop, practice facility, and a swimming pool.
Purple Sage Golf Course in Caldwell
Purple Sage is a municipal golf course known for its well maintained courses and affordable prices. The 19th Hole is their well-stocked snack bar where you can find food, beer, wine and great service. Other amenities at this course are a pro shop, and large banquet facilities. This golf course hosts many special events such as the Idaho State Open and the Idaho State Amateur tournaments.
Ridgecrest Golf Club in Nampa
Ridgecrest is an award-winning golf course also designed by John Harbottle III. This full-service golf course is one of Idaho’s premier public golf facilities. They even provide on their executive course, a sports mashup called FootGolf. This sport is a combination of soccer and golf. You basically play golf with a soccer ball and use your feet instead of clubs.
RedHawk Public Golf Course in Nampa
RedHawk is a beautiful, verdant 18 hole course which overlooks the splendor of Lake Lowell. This course is an appropriate one for all skill levels, from its gentle, smooth fairways to the more challenging, rolling hills. Since its opening in 2014, it has hosted a number of championship tournaments.
Pierce Park Greens in Boise
Pierce Park Greens is Northwest of downtown Boise, nestled between North Pierce Park Lane and Hill Rd. This 9 hole course has club fitting experts at its facility. Warm Springs Golf Course in Boise
Warm Springs Golf Course is situated at the base of Table Rock Hill. The course meanders along the Boise River making for a very picturesque game. The cafe is casual dining only but offers a variety of food and beverages which can be enjoyed either at their indoor dining room or outdoors on their covered patio.
